Originally a segment from a larger Power Hour video that I created, this video uses a technique where each spoken word shows an image that is a literal interpretation.
Behind the Scenes
I have not been able to find a term for this editing technique because it has never been a popular trend. The closest thing I can find is called "literal video" versions of songs. This is when someone takes a music video and then changes the lyrics of the song to match exactly what is happening moment-to-moment, which you can see in this amazing example. What I did is the inverse of this where I selected a piece of audio ("Common People" featuring William Shatner) and then made quick cuts of images and videos that corresponded with the words out of context (example: "She came from Greece" shows a music poster from the Broadway show "Grease").
