It was such a treat to sit back and have people tell everyone how amazing we are! It was almost like giving everyone a small time slot to do a stand-up bit, while also saying something that will make everyone cry. Everyone had such a unique way of expressing their gratitude for the 2 of us finding each other. There was music, there was poetry, and of course a little bit of roasting. But what made this so meaningful was hearing from guests how the speeches provided them with a deeper understanding of who we are individually and the vibrant communities we come from. The toasts offered everyone a glimpse into our separate selves, which led to the beauty of us coming together.
