As a promo for the Broadway Purim show in 2018, we wanted to tell the story in a way that honored one of the most popular musicals of the modern era: Hamilton. This is essentially a music video around the opening track, Alexander Hamilton, but telling the story of Purim.
Behind the Scenes
Josh Silverbauer who is the creator and narrator of every year's show wrote alternate lyrics to the song (which is the formula for all the Purim shows). Similar to the Rap Battles video, this one was a lot of lip syncing with a green screen and then creating backgrounds and transitions around the lyrical content. It was great practice for all of us to shape our vocal diction around the complex rhythms involved in the original show. It's not the highest quality green screen work, but it gets the job done!
